Dr. Wuertz received her Doctorate of Dental Surgery at The University of Texas Health Science Center Dental School in 1992. She completed a Post Doctoral General Practice Residency at the Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO the following year.
In 2013 Dr. Wuertz enrolled at Tufts University Dental Sleep Medicine Mini Residency. She concurrently enrolled in the American Academy of Craniofacial Pain (AACP) Mini-Residency and received her Fellowship in the Academy in 2014. Also In 2014, Dr. Wuertz earned herDiplomate Status, in the American Board of Craniofacial Dental Sleep Medicine (ABCDSM), and has passed the Written Exam for the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine.
She has served on the Faculty of Creighton University in the Fixed Prosthodontics Department and was a Research Assistant at the University of Texas Health Science Center Dental School. Continuing her passion for sharing knowledge and educating others, she has recently been appointed to the University of Chapel Hill Dental School serving as an Adjunct Associate Dental Professor. She has specialized training in the areas of Lasers in Dentistry and lectures extensively sharing her research on Ankyloglossia in Infants and the impact on Breastfeeding and Growth & Development. Dr Wuertz currently serves on the Board of Examiners for the ABCDSM, on the Institute Committee of AACP, and on the International Association ofOrofacial Myology Board of Directors.. Dr. Wuertz owns two Private Practices. Her General Dentistry Practice is located in Elizabeth City, NC and a Specialty Practice in Chesapeake, VAis dedicated to Laser Frenectomy infants and children with Tethered Oral Tissues (TOTS) and Dental Sleep Medicine. With her 24 years in both Private Practice ownership, as well as in the Academic environment, Dr. Wuertz prides herself on a team effort to provide the best care to her patients of all ages.She has a supportive husband with 4 children.
