I am an SLP working in a school district. I am looking to register for your seminar this summer, pending approval from my supervisor.
I have been curious about orofacial myology therapy for quite some time and would love to learn more about it.
Here are my questions:
Part of my current caseload is to work with speech students, many of whom struggle to meet their speech goals. I keep encountering students for whom, despite many efforts, success is limited, and I can’t stop myself from thinking how I am missing something that goes beyond speech sound production…. I think that rest posture and the like are key, but I don’t have the knowledge it takes to tackle this. I am guessing your course would help answer those questions, am I right?
That is why most speech pathologists attend our course….most definitely it helps to fill in the blanks, to eliminate barriers before starting therapy, to “set the stage” for speech, and to address the chewing, bolus collection and swallow where necessary. Rest posture, lip closure/resistant abilities and so very, very much more relates to habituation of our students/clients.
I wanted to ask whether you have had SLPs working in school districts take your course, and how appropriate this type of therapy is for a public school setting vs a private practice clinic.
Many of the SLPs who attend our training courses work in the schools; some of them hope to work privately at least a little bit in their futures….others are in hospitals, private clinics and other facilities. Some participants are in the dental professions with goals that differ in some ways from ours as SLPs and we share and learn together, enhancing both groups of professionals.
If you could share some of the feedback you may have received around this, it would be much appreciated and would help me advocate with my district, in the hopes that they would fund my tuition fees.
I will attach a lot of great information that will be interesting to you and will get you very excited about the adventure that you will be on once you become one of our Neo-Health Services “grads”. I will include letters and lists that past grads have used to convince their supervisors and bosses of the benefits to their organizations/offices in having someone trained by us.
What happens after I take your course? Won’t I feel alone and lost?
You will first of all be able to begin evaluation and treatment immediately after taking our training course. Our course in particular offers some unique things that will make you and your supervisor very happy you spent the time and money to join our Neo-Health family. We immediately permit our attendees to be in our exclusive Facebook group, Myo Masters, composed of professionals worldwide who have taken our course, use the same methods, and encourage one another forever, discussing difficult cases, learning together, having live online meetings, etc. Thus, you will have connections worldwide with SLPs, Dental professionals, and some medical professionals as well, all of whom have had the same Neo-Health Services training that you have. You will feel part of our Neo-Health Family and not alone…..
Sometimes I might have some rather technical questions about clients, etiologies and so forth. Where is the best place to go for finding that type of information?
Dr. Mason, who wrote the text in Orofacial Myology has pages on our site and is a member of our NHS team. He provides dozens of research papers and studies, articles, position papers and more on his page of www.orofacialmyology.com He also kindly makes himself available to our grads as much as possible, carefully addressing questions in details.
